Beachlands

Beachlands is a seaside settlement,  bound on two side by the sea, north facing, both gentle sloping and flat, and because of the terrain it is mainly the highest sites and the lower cliff top properties who get the spectacular sea vistas. The settlement was first devoped in the 1920s, subdivided into 870 sections,  marketed as the "Marine Garden Suburb", and its initial development was mainly that of weekend baches.

The  Beachlands Village offers a small but busy retail centre, and is the main centre for the immediate and wider communities.  The community also supports a School, various pre-School facilities, a Chartered Club, a Cafe, a new Medical Centre and Pharmacy, a Police Station. and a much valued volunteer Fire Service and First Response Team.  Nearby "Pine Harbour Marina" operates a ferry service which commutes to and from the city daily, along with services to Waiheke and Rakino Islands at weekends only.

The west facing lookout at the southern end of Puriri Road provides exciting views of the comings and goings from the marina and looking beyond the shallow waters of the inlet controlling the waters of the Mangamangeroa, Turanga and Waikopua Creeks you see the beaches and coastal housing of Howick with the highrise of Auckland City offering a backdrop in the distance. A look to the right presents Motukaraka (Flat Island) guarding the western end of Beachlands.  At low tide you can have a easy walk to the Island. and if the vegetation allows, a climb to the top and a stroll out to the northern end presents an uninterupted panoramic view of the Tamaki Strait and many islands of the magnificent Hauraki Gulf.  Steps to the Beach can be found off a small reserve at the northern end of Puriri Road.

The long coastline of Beachlands supports many Pohutukawa trees, three small but very safe swimming beaches - Sunkist Bay, Shelley Bay and Green Bay - along with a jetty, boat ramp and children's playground at Sunkist Bay.

Formosa Golf Resort offers a challenging PGA Standard Internatial Golf Course while presenting breath-taking panaramic views of the inner gulf.  The Resort offers luxury accommodation, an international food and wine Restaurant, along with conference facilities and sports complex all of which are available to the public.
